Story: Resident Evil Apocalypse starts in the aftermath of the first movie. The virus has spread to the city and a race to evacuate begins with Dr Ashford (Harris). With the city turning into chaos, the undead have taken over and Major Cain (Kretschmann) locks down the city. Alice (Jovovich) joins Jill Valentine (Guillory), Carlos Olivera (Fehr) and other survivors on a mission to find Angie Ashford (Vavasseur).

As the survivors search the city, they come up against the different threats which have been unleashed. However, Alice is prepared to take on the deadliest threat in an exchange with Dr Ashford to save his missing daughter.

Verdict on Resident Evil Apocalypse

Resident Evil Apocalypse is an action horror sequel expanding the world created in the first movie. It follows a group of survivors trying to escape Raccoon City after the virus spreads and taking on Umbrella in the process.

This moves more toward the all-out action concept which the series later became more famous for. The horror is mostly the undead and the larger Nemesis project unleashed. It plays out more like a video game, with the core story being a rescue mission to save a young girl trapped in the city. The inclusion of Jill Valentine helps the more hardcore fans of the gaming series after the first movie lacked any of the popular characters. It is big and entertaining, which works for what is trying to be created but is far from the best in the franchise. There are some big set pieces with Alice’s introduction in the church and the final showdown.
