Martin Kaltenbrunner and Takao Someya, leading a team of University of Tokyo researchers, have recently developed a flexible, skin-like and lighter-than-feather material that can detect pressure while also being virtually indestructible.
The name is even cooler… Imperceptable Electronics.
Imagine the possibilities: one nanometer thick, this could be used to create a second skin that you won’t feel at all and can monitor your vital signs or medical implants. Also, temperature sensors could be added to make life-like skin for prosthetics…

However, before wearable electronics and before we can see this super-thin material in medicine and , the researchers have a long journey ahead.
