January 2014
I was able to visit the National Museum of WWII Aviation during a 2014 Colorado trip. The collection is small but has plans for expansion and will be worth future visits as they grow. This P-47 was delivered in 1945, too late to see any combat. It served stateside before being transferred to the Peruvian Air Force in the 1950’s. It was acquired and restored by WestPac Restorations and flew again in 1995. First flown in 1941, more than 15,600 Thunderbolts were produced, serving in active duty until 1953. Nikon D300 w/18-200mm.
