Repeating Patterns in New Abstract Drawing

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

In this new abstract drawing, I used a number of repeating patterns.  I began with thick vertical lines in blues and lavender, using the large nib of a Zigg calligraphy marker.  Then I drew a series of repeating circles, first larger ones with wide lines, then smaller ones in the spaces in between.

The final step was to draw in black and red with a Kohinoor fine point pen.  The small red circles I drew added texture.  The lines I drew in black emphasized particular shapes in the composition.

The final drawing ends up looking almost like an architectural construction with bubble windows rising to the sky.  Highlights in orange and yellow give it light and energy.
