Removing Dry Blood from Carpets

Dried Blood is not the most common stain to be removed from your carpets, but accidents can happen. There is no need to panic as Blood is simple to remove from all kinds of carpets. Some methods do not require Chemicals, meaning that these methods can treat even the most delicate carpets or rugs. The items that you might need for these Techniques are as follows:

• Washing Up Liquid (Containing NO Bleach)
• Clean White Cloths
• Cold Water
• Warm Water
• Steel Brush 
• Ammonia 
• Clean Dry Towels
• Wet Vac
• Fan 
• Vacuum 

I will run through the best ways to remove Dried Blood from your carpets. 

Now it’s essential with Blood that the stained area is attended to as quickly as possible, the longer the Blood is left on the carpet the more it will set and one with your carpet’s fibres. However, sometimes you may not notice that the blood has managed to get onto the carpet, which develops and dries into the deeper fibres. 

Firstly we would suggest using a steel brush, gently rubbing over the stained area to help loosen the stain. This will help to remove all of the surface deposits. Remember to brush lightly. You don’t want to cause lasting damage to the carpet fibres. 

Secondly, mix a solution of washing-up liquid with two cups of water. Ensure the washing-up liquid does not contain bleach and use COLD water. 

Thirdly, dip a clean, preferably white cloth into the washing-up liquid and COLD water solution and blot the stained area repeatedly. Continue with these steps until the stain has completely disappeared from the carpet. 

If, for any reason that this method does not complete the stain removal process, you can try using Half a

cup of warm water and one tablespoon of ammonia instead of the washing-up liquid and Cold water solution. Repeat the same steps before blotting the clean cloth on the stained area until the stain has been removed successfully. 

Not all of you are comfortable using products on your precious carpets, that ok we also have a method to remove dried blood without the use of any chemicals. 

Using a spray bottle, Fill it with COLD water. Begin by spraying the water directly onto the Bloodstain. If the stain is fairly large, spray from the outer edge inwards. This will ensure that the Blood is not spread further, creating more of a mess than when you started. The COLD water will help loosen the dried blood causing it to liquefy and dilute. 

Next, using a wet vac, suck the diluted Blood and remaining moisture from of the area. If you do not have a wet vac, use a clean, dry towel and blot the stain, applying heavy pressure to soak up as much moisture as possible. 

To help the area dry quicker, place a fan pointing directly at the area. This will ensure that the carpet isn’t left damp. 

Once the area is fully dry, vacuum as usual, this will remove any leftover residue. 

And there you have it. You’re left with a clean Stain free Carpet ready to be enjoyed again. These methods are so easy that anyone can try them. They have proven to be very efficient at removing Blood. Suppose these methods, however, fail.
