A man residing in Dodanduwa in the Hikkaduwa Police Division who was arrested on the charge of sexually abusing a school girl has been remanded till May 15 after being produced before the Galle Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
The Court also ordered the suspect to be referred to the Mental Health Clinic and the Venereal Diseases Clinic. Police said that the suspect who had come in a three wheeler has told the victim girl that he can drop her to school . Later he has taken the girl who is a Grade 09 student to his house and spent time with her until the school closed. This was revealed when she was questioned about her absence by the school authorities. The girl told Police that she had a sexual relationship with the suspect for about a year.
When referred to the Judicial Medical Offiicer of the Karapitiya Hospital it was revealed that the student had been raped. Hikkaduwa Police are conducting further investigations
