I was raised in a fundamentalist christian church, and I went to college to become a preacher (because I wanted to help people). But then I began to understand the hateful beliefs I would be expected to support and teach to others, and I simply could not do that. Religion may offer some people some comfort from their fear of death, but far too often it is used in this world as a crutch to justify hate and bigotry. To me, religion is anti-human.
