De purpurae
Here are more relics of Christ that are in our custody. Above left are strands from one of the ropes with which Christ was flogged during the Scourging at the Pillar. This comes from Rome – the ropes can be found at the Basilica di Santa Prassede. Above in the middle is a small piece from the Column of Flagellation, which also comes from Rome. Meanwhile, above right is a small piece from the Purple Robe that Christ was forced to wear, while being mocked by the Roman soldiers after His scourging. This comes from the Augustinians. To the left is another large Vera Effigies relic also in our custody, which similarly comes from Rome. It has been framed.
