For those who work on a laptop a lot, I was beginning to feel chronic pain in the shoulder and neck area. The pain came and went, but I wanted to know the cause and preventive measures to relieve myself of it for good.
The Therapy
A the therapist told me, there are differences between physical therapy and massage, but some people interchange and confuse the two, both have benefits, but their use and effects are different. This cleared up a few misconceptions I had about the treatment and the pain I felt in the shoulder and neck area.
The therapist assessed what was causing the pain first before telling me the type of treatment I will be getting. The therapy included exercises to improve strength in problematic areas; this is necessary because lack of exercise forces muscles to overwork or overcompensate whenever you do routine things. The chronic pain felt by people with the same lifestyle as I, is partly because of weak muscles in and around the shoulders, and may extend to the neck. If you're doing these at home, you can replace the band with weights and do the same movements.
