Reddit Talk, Audio-Only Platform Chat Room, now supports recordings. As described in a post on the Reddit blog, this means you can now listen to previous talks and use the playback tool that allows you to jump to certain timestamps, unpuse pauses / recording, and advance them. This must make it easier for users to record and distribute sessions such as direct podcasts.
Reddit also announced that it expanded talks to the web and brought some practical features (which was already available on the cellphone) along with him. This includes listener’s ability to raise their hands to talk and ways to moderators to deactivate users and delete them as speakers. The platform says it launches speaking for desktop applications “later this month.”
In addition, this platform gives listener the ability to communicate with text and emojis in real time. Before this change, users can only raise their hands when they want to talk – add two additional ways to communicate must make talks more attractive, especially if some users want to make a comment but don’t want to go on a mic.
For the last note, Reddit said it was testing the “Live Bar” which will appear at the top of the house feed on a cellphone, like the Twitter bar bar if anyone you follow is in the room. The bar will show you when the conversation immediately happens and where the community you follow.
Reddit first introduced TALK last April, and since then, only the moderator who joined the waiting list that could host an audio session only. It doesn’t look like Reddit plans to let us ordinary users take control of the conversation. The platform to TechCrunch, he does not have “plans to extend audio features directly to reddit users outside the moderator.” Verge reached out to reddit with a comment request but did not immediately hear again.
Even still, Reddit seems to slowly fill the story with more features because it tries to take clubhouses (and all other clones). Both the space and clubhouse have supported the recording, so it was not surprising because Reddit decided to enter features too.
