By Jewelrygal @1928jewelry

Happy Birthday to all our July babies! Lucky for you to be gifted with such a lovely birthstone like the ravishing ruby. Rubies have always been a favorite in history and a personal favorite of my own. Like many little girls, I was obsessed with Dorthy’s sparkly red ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz and envied my mother for having ruby as her birthstone as opposed to yellow topaz for my November birthday. But while its fiery red pigment is enough to love, there is actually more to this lovely stone than meets the eye. Here are a few fun facts about the radiant ruby and its opulent place in history.
