Red Alert in Western Maharashtra, Very Heavy Rainfall Likely in These States

IMD has issued a ‘red warning’ for South Konkan, Goa and South Central Maharashtra and Orange Warnings for North Central Maharashtra, East Vidarbha and West Vidarbha for the next two days. The red warning for the districts of Pune, Satara and Kolhapur showed a very heavy rainfall in West Maharashtra for the next three days. The red warning is valid from 6 to 8 July for the Satara District and from 7 to 9 July for the Kolhapur District.

The warning came when the surface of the Panchganga River in Kolhapur was only seven legs away from a warning sign on Wednesday night. Of the 17 teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) which were deployed in the Maharashtra area that had reported heavy rain to a very heavy, two teams had been placed in Shirol Tehsil and the City of Kolhapur who were flooded prone.
