According to the Minister of power and energy Kanchana WijesekeraSri Lanka recorded the highest energy demand in the recent past yesterday (19 April).
Minister stated that net generation of 49.53 GWh was required for power generation. Furthermore, according to the to demand recorded early morningtoday (20 April) it is estimated that the energy demand will exceed 50 Gwh today.
In order to match the rising energy demand, all CEB thermal plants including the recently established Hambantota Diesel Powered generators is being utilized.
