Recipes for Free: Homemade Hot Cocoa

By Calvin Eaton @glutenfreechef5

hotchocolateI’ve curated quite the collection of herbal teas which is my go to beverage to keep my body and soul warm during these bitter cold days and nights. Some days I literally drink 3-4 mugs of tea.  Sweetened with raw honey or liquid stevia a hot cup of tea never gets old. Sometimes I like to switch it up and armed with a saucepan, unsweetened cocoa, and almond milk I stir up a batch of homemade hot cocoa. Gone are the days of the prepackaged stuff. When it comes to hot cocoa stove top is the only way to ensure that your cup is perfectly sweetened, dairy, gluten, and paleo friendly.

Homemade Hot Cocoa
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup coconut milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup coconut palm sugar or stevia, or less
Add all ingredients into small saucepan heat until hot and well blended. Transfer to a mug, serve immediately.
