{Recipe} Yoghurt Tub Cake

By Meltingmoments

Recently, a friend of mine told me about this great cake recipe. It’s incredibly simple and is an ideal first recipe for little people to cook as it relies on the tub from yoghurt as the measuring cup. It’s also very versatile. You can make it a plain cake or add fruit or flavours.

{Recipe} Yoghurt Tub Cake

1 tub natural yoghurt
2 tubs caster sugar
3 tubs self raising flour
1 tub olive oil
3 eggs
Optional: flavor of your choice – eg. 1-2 tubs frozen berries, 1 tub mashed banana
(I added a tsp of vanilla extract when Dora wasn’t looking)

Help your child put all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
Line a cake tin with baking paper. We used a round tin.
Bake in a 180˚c oven for 40 minutes or until it bounces back when touched in the center.
Dust with icing sugar or frosting. Lemon frosting is lovely.

This cake batter works well for muffins too.

Dora is still a bit young to do some of the steps but she was able to pour and mix. She particularly liked mixing and touching the empty eggs shells.

We kept going back to check the cake as it baked and sang ‘Pat a Cake, pat a cake baker’s man.’
