So…I feel like I’ve been keeping a big secret because I’ve meant to blog about this for the past YEAR!! #alwaysbehind #storyofmylife Last November, I had my first spray tan experience. One of my friends did it for her wedding and looked amazing. I was POSITIVE that was her “bride positive energy luck” and most people turn orange like an Oompa Loompa.
Well, I went to a Xen-Tan event at Neiman Marcus Northpark. Pay attention to the last part, Neiman Marcus. If you know me, then you know that I’m a HUGE fan of that store. How could anything go wrong there?
Plus, my friend Kristi is the face of the brand, literally. (Imagine bumping into her while grocery shopping “really quick” so I’m looking like a bum when I run into my model friend!) Anyhow, who wouldn’t want to look like her… a gorgeous tall bronzed blonde?! Anyhow, I digress.
Back the the event… I walk into the back room of the Halcyon Spa a pasty porcelain skin tone and walk out a golden goddess AND I smelled so yummy (like cake)! I was SOLD!
I’ve been using their self-tan products since then. (Honestly, it easier for me to do it at home after Little M goes to bed then make a special trip to Dallas.) I use it when I need a little more color (wearing a bathing suit) or when wearing white (that’s why I mentioned it for the Diner en Blanc post). It’s gives me a beautiful sun kissed glow.
So that’s the long back story behind the my love for Xen-Tan. Now, I’ll give you the quick and bronzy details! ;)
They’re most recent collection has been updated with a foam mousse for he body bronzer!!! (“Ah hands” emoji!!).
First step is exfoliation!! (I use their Fresh Prep Scrub on the body which smells like citrusy and exfoliates gently. ExfoliKate is my go to for the face although you can use the Xen-Tan Prep Scrub all over.) Don’t forget elbows knees, and ankles where the pigment can deposit. This allows for an even coverage during application.
Second, I apply the Fresh Tanning Mousse on the mitt and apply everywhere. The little fibers on the tanning mitt help cover a larger surface area. And now with the foam, it is UBER QUICK to apply! (Hooray for late night self-tan sessions!) I usually apply the tanning mousse at night, after a shower, right before bedtime and wake up a bronzed beauty. The “tan” develops in 3-4 hours. I also apply the Fresh Face Tan (which smells like vanilla), but that can be daily for a gradual buildable tan. Also, the mousse is formulated with peptides, green tea, ginkgo biloba, aloe vera and vitamins D & E so it’s a PLUS PLUS in my head!
If you don’t have the mitt, the blending balm is AWESOME! It keeps your palm and soles of your feet from staining. It’s smells like coconut, and you can also use it to moisturize your nail cuticles or prevent calloused areas from getting too dark.
Okay, hope that wasn’t too much “self-tan” talk, but I had to share! Xen-Tan products are so easy to use, and I love the way I look after an application! Plus, they smell great. (In case you couldn’t tell, smell is thing for me!)
