Chicago’s Ratboys have shared the video for new single ‘It’s Alive’ ahead of the release of their fourth album, ‘The Window’ on 25 August via Topshelf Records. The band have played with the like of Soccer Mommy, Pup and Wild Pink and the new record showcases their sonically diverse sound.
‘It’s Alive’ opens with a burst of Guided by Voices-style feedback and hooks you’ll be humming for days as Julia Steiner sets the scene, talking about the power of the natural world: ‘Outside my window, the birds dance alone. I sit back and take it in like some sort of medicine’. Things then take a Malkmus-esque turn with woozy, wonky riffs backing up the plea of ‘I pray to the sky above… Give in or give it up’.
