RAR by Charles & Ray Eames for Vitra
Many of the best designers in the world were (and are) Italians, but today I decided to treat a well known work of the Swiss company Vitra, originally from Germany.
RAR, which stands for Rocking Armchair Rod Base, is one of the postwar design classics but still seems a timeless project. It was designed in 1950 by Charles and Ray Eames and was composed of organically shaped seat shells made by fiberglass-reinforced plastic, combined with various bases, like the one that I present here (and prefer), the Rocking Base.

You can download the product sheet (pdf) or watch the clever ad made by Charles & Ray Eames office for the Polaroid SX-70 instant camera here on youtube.
