Posted on the 09 March 2020 by Indianjagran

When the Saurashtra team, led by Jaydev Unadkat, takes on Bengal in the final on Monday, they will look to create history by winning the Ranji Trophy title for the first time at home.

However, defeating Bengal full of confidence will not be so easy. Saurashtra will play in the fourth final in eight seasons, while Bengal will play their 14th title match.

Bengal would aim to become champion once again after thirty (1989–90) years. Cheteshwar Pujara, a regular player of the Indian Test team, has joined Saurashtra team while Wriddhiman Saha, who returned from New Zealand in Bengal.

Unadkat is in superb form, he has taken 65 wickets at an average of 12.17 so far and has become the highest wicket-taker in a season. He broke the 21-year-old record of Doda Ganesh of Karnataka (62, 1998–99).

He is now four wickets away from becoming the highest wicket taker in a season of Ranji history. This record is in the name of Bihar spinner Ashutosh (68) which he made in the last season. Unadkat’s brilliant performance this season has put him in the running back for Team India.
