Rangers and Canadiens: Comparing the Percentage of Total Events Engaged in with Possession in the Offensive-zone

Puck-management is about making the necessary plays in order to gain, and maintain puck-possession in the offensive-zone. This post will communicate how well each player, position, and team performed managing the puck. The graphs included displays the percentage of all events (defensive and offensive/ all 3 zones) each player engaged in while in possession of the puck in the offensive-zone. Those with a higher percentage spent more time with possession in the o-zone. Consequently, they spent less time defending in the defensive-zone.
Offensive-zone possession plays include all passes, dekes, and shots that are attempted while positioned in the offensive-zone.

TEAM AND  POSITIONAL COMPARISON
32% of the New York Rangers total events in game 4 occurred while in possession of the puck in the offensive-zone. As for the Habs, 26.4% if their total events occurred while in possession of the puck in the offensive-zone.
As a group, only 11.4% of the Canadiens defensemen's overall events occurred while in possession of the puck in the offensive-zone. Rangers d-men were far more involved in team's offense, as 16.9% of their total events occurred while in possession of the puck in the offensive-zone.
43.1% of the Rangers forwards total events occurred while in possession of the puck in the o-zone, while 35.7% of the Habs total events occurred with possession in the o-zone.
NEW YORK RANGERS
As a team, the Rangers produced their second-highest percentage of total events with possession in the offensive-zone during the current series. As a group, Rangers defensemen and forwards also produced their second highest percentage of the playoffs.

MONTREAL CANADIENS
As a team the Canadiens produced their second-lowest percentage of this series. As a group, their d-men and forwards also produced their second-lowest percentage.
