Daggubati Rana heir to the Ramanaidu clan started his tryst with history 3 years ago toady (February 19) when he made his debut with Leader, a far cry from all the previous debuts which banked on successful commercial formulas. He then followed it up with a completely unexpected turn in Dum Maaro Dum in Hindi and slightly offbeat Nenu Na Rakshasi in Telugu. A year later he came up with twin disasters Naa Ishtham and Department and followed it with critically acclaimed Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum. rana daggubati filmography latest photos1 300x157 Ranas Tyrst With History

But despite his lack of unanimous success Rana is going for challenging stuff film after film where he wants to be at the center of action and be part of the success rather than be just a show piece and also he is going at that process in a completely unconventional way that hasn’t been tried before.

Now the actor seems to have taken this historical aspect a bit seriously and if things go according to plan he will be seen in not one or two but three historical/period films in coming few years. We already know about two of them, one being the SS Rajamouli directed Baahubali and the other being Gunasekhar directed Rudramadevi. Apart from these two sources say, the actor will also start his much talked about historical project with director Selva Raghavan too at a later point of time after the completion of these two films.

The project with Selva Raghavan has been in news much before the two projects he has signed now but it was put in the back-burner as Rana wasn’t known enough to be part of such big budget project and carry it solely, it would have been too risky and a failure could have put a big dent in the career. The think tank now feels that after the two projects Rana is doing now, he would be known and bankable enough to carry such a big project solely and it is then that this project would be on sets as a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil.

Only time would tell if this path pays off for Daggubati Rana or not but whatever may be the end result, the actor is making sure that he would be heard and have a separate place for him in the history as the one who charted his own path among the mundane.

Would Rana’s risk with the upcoming films pay off? What do you think? We wish the actor for completion of 3 years today, his Leader released on 19th Feb 2010.
