Ralph Lauren started their mid-season sale this week. You can take 30% off select items with the checkout code RLFAM30. There are some pretty good deals floating around, particularly if you’re able to combine the promotion with the already-discounted items in their sale section. Some things I found last night while browsing the site:
Outerwear: The company has some nice, lightweight jackets this season. These combat jackets and bombers, for example, have stowaway hoods for unexpected light showers, while this bonded cotton walking coat might be better suited for more serious weather. I also find quilted jackets to be useful on drier days. For deeper discounts, browse through the sale section. They have some good deals on things such as shearling-collar bombers and cotton-canvas chore coats.
Footwear: Ralph Lauren recently introduced a new tassel loafer. Like Christian over at Ivy Style, I think the lower hanging tassel looks jauntier than Alden’s designs. And although it’s unconfirmed, the shoes look like they might have been made by Allen Edmonds (who also introduced a new tassel loafer this season), although the color here seems exclusive to Ralph Lauren. Other good footwear models on sale: these made-in-USA wingtips, penny loafers, and punched cap derbys.
Knitwear: The sale section has some good knitwear on discount, which you can drop even further with the coupon code. I’ve always liked Ralph Lauren’s iconic flag sweater and there are some good sizes left in the brushed Shetlands. Also, this shawl collar cardigan looks pretty good.
Shirts: These plaid linen shirts would go well with casual suits and sport coats. Just wear them open-collared on a hot day. There are also some more causal workshirts if you’re looking for something to go with sportswear. I have an old RRL shirt that looks like this, which I wear all the time with bomber jackets and field coats.
Miscellany: Finally, some odds and ends, such as briefcases made from nylon and leather, a nice looking key fob (which I almost bought), and some deeply discounted wool challis ties. You’ll want to save the last one for when you’re wearing tweeds and corduroys, but you know … fall will come again.
