Rahula College Matara will host big match rivals Dharmapala College Pannipitiya for the 2020 edition Limited Over encounter at the Uyanwatta stadium today (9th May).
Both schools should be commended for giving the players who represented the under 19 team in the 2019/2020 season, the opportunity to take the field for the most prestigious game of their school cricket career which had to be cancelled due to the Covid19 pandemic.
The 2020 edition is the 5th limited over encounter in the Battle of the Golden Lion series. Dharmapala lead the series 3 games to 1. Dharmapala won the inaugural encounter played in 2013 while Rahula leveled the series by winning the second limited over encounter played in 2017 after which Dharmapala won the 2018 and 2019 editions and would be looking forward to make it a hat trick of wins when they take the field on Monday.
The Dharmapala team is led by Vihanga Gunerathne and has Navindu Naveen as his deputy.The team is coached by Sanjaya Dewapura and Waruna Withanakanda is the Master in Charge.
Rahula College team is led by Bhagya Ediriweera. The Rahula team is coached by Ranil Rasanga and Manoj Manushanaka is the Master in Charge.
