QV Skincare

I suffer from dry skin, I presume it's a type of dermatitis but my GP has shown little interest, just suggesting Aqueous Cream. It springs up on my hands and face and looks awful.It gets sore very quickly, particularly in the cold weather. Baby wipes, regardless of the brand are also a trigger for my unsightly skin. 

I'm always on the look out for innovative creams and potions which promise soothed and less troubled skin. I was recently asked if I'd like to try out some products from the QV Skincare range*, a range of emollient products that promote a 2 step routine of cleansing and moisturising to relieve the discomfort of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis. 

QV are an Australian brand who use Glycerol in their emollient products rather than the more common Petroleum Jelly. It was refreshing to learn this because I'm not a fan of that greasy sticky layer some products can leave on your skin or the increased risk of spots caused by blocked pores. Glycerol is a naturally occurring Humectant (Humectants help the skin retain moisture and protects it against irritation).

The QV range is free from colour, fragrance, lanolin and propylene glycol to reduce the risk of irritation whilst cleansing and moisturising. 

I was sent three products from the range to try out. 

QV BATH OIL

• Safe, non-slip formula
• Disperses easily in water with no residue
• Ideal for infants and the elderly
• Available in 250 / 500ml

I really like the bath oil. I was expecting a very oily consistency but it's not at all. Although my skin feels soft smooth after bathing with it, there's no greasy feeling afterwards. I've been using this in the baths I share with the little man too. He did have some dry skin on his legs which has completely disappeared since I started adding this to his bath. I like that it's none slippy too, so there's no chance of slipping and sliding in the bath. 

QV SKIN LOTION

• A light, moisturising, all-over body lotion
• Also removes make-up
• Available in 250 / 500ml

Out of the three products we tried this was the one I like least. I don't like the watery consistency. I struggle to get it to soak into my skin. I've tried using on large parks of my body such as my legs and torso but I have found my self wafting and wandering round waiting for it to soak in enough for me to put clothes on. 

After reading more about the company online I've found that you can also use this to remove your make up. Whilst I'm more of a face wipe (shoot me know for crimes against skin) kind of girl I will

QV CREAM

• Available in 100 / 500 / 1050g

My favorite of the three. It's thick and creamy and works a treat on my dry cracked hands. It's very quickly absorbed with no stickiness left behind. This has made a massive difference to my hands. The skin is much softer and less sore. I still have dry areas but I'm hoping with prolonged use this may clear it up completely. I did take some pictures of my hands prior to using the cream but they appear to have disappeared into the great photograph fog. When I find them I'll update this post with before and after pictures so you can see the difference. The products range from £4 upwards. I don't think they're very expensive at all, especially considering their effectiveness. I'll definitely purchase the cream and bath oil again.
