Queens, New York

My family originated from the south, some from Virginia and some from the Carolinas (both north and south).

None of my family came from overseas I have no Caribbean bloodline within me. My ancestors are from African, Native American, and English descent.

My mother was born and partially raised in Manhattan, I was born and raised in Queens.

Queens, New York was a lovely place to reside.

Some parts of Queens have gone down in past years. The best places to live in Queens now compared to other locations is Bayside (where I went to school as a youngster), Whitestone, Flushing, Fresh Meadows, Forest Hills, and Kew Gardens.

I hear that Long Island City- which borders onto Manhattan is a nice area.

When I lived in Long Island City, Queens back in the 1980’s the neighborhood was on the verge of getting bad and after I had moved away it did take a turn for the worst.

However, that was decades ago. A lot has changed. When I went to work out in Roosevelt Island part of Long Island City eight years ago, the place was appealing with storefronts, restaurants apartment complexes and other attractions.

An area in Astoria Queens I have traveled through and worked in was not too bad, yet I would never desire to live over there.

Jackson Heights and Sunnyside I would not go to live either.

Ridgewood, Queens and the Rockaways are of no interest to me although they may be okay for others.
