Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 4G SoC has been announced with 4G support, 4K video recording capabilities, and a slightly faster Qualcomm Kryo 460 octa-core CPU. The Chipset comes with X12 LTE Modem which is capable to deliver up to 600Mbps download speeds and up to 150Mbps upload speeds.

Qualcomm revealed a new chipset in its 6-series SoC’s named Snapdragon 678. As per the company’s official blog post, It provides premium mobile experiences with upgraded performance, dynamic camera features, and enhanced streaming capabilities. Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 is based on 11nm architecture that includes the Qualcomm Kryo 460 octa-core CPU with a clock speed of up to 2.2GHz, which is slightly faster as compared to the 2GHz clock speed of the Snapdragon 675. The Chipset coupled with Adreno 612 GPU for a sharp and high frame rate gaming experience.


In terms of display, It supports Full-HD+ (1,080×2,520 pixels) resolution panel with up to 10-bit color depth. The chipset also supports up to 4K UHD resolution when connecting it to an external display. Coming to the camera sensor support, the Snapdragon 678 has the Qualcomm Spectra 250L image signal processor, which is capable of supporting up to the 48-megapixel single camera and up to 16-megapixel dual-camera setups. Plus, It can record 4K video at 30fps, 1080p video at up to 120fps, and 720p video at up to 240fps.


For connectivity options, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 678 has the support of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem which can offer peak download and upload speeds of 600Mbps and 150Mbps, respectively. The processor has dual-SIM Dual VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS, GPS, QZSS, and SBAS. More connectivity option includes USB 3.1 support with USB Type-C interface and support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology is also present.


Additionally, It comes with Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo Plus technology, Qualcomm Aqstic audio technology, and Qualcomm aptX audio technology for a better audio experience.


However, there is no confirmation about which will be the first smartphone powered by Snapdragon 678 SoC.
