Pyongyang Mass Rally Held to Support 200 Day Battle

A mass rally to promote the 200 Day speed battle took place at Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang on June 1 (Wednesday).  Among those attending the rally from the platform were were Pak Pong Ju (DPRK Premier and Member of the Workers’ Party of Korea [WPK] Political Bureau Presidium), Choe Ryong Hae (WPK Vice Chairman, Member of the Political Bureau Presidium and Chairman of the State Physical Culture and Sports Commission), Kim Ki Nam (WPK Vice Chairman, Member of the WPK Political Bureau and director of the WPK Propaganda and Agitation Department),  Choe T’ae Bok (WPK Vice Chairman and Member of the WPK Political Bureau and Supreme People’s Assembly [SPA] Chairman), O Su Yong (WPK Vice Chairman and Member of the WPK Political Bureau), Kwak Pom Gi (WPK Vice Chairman and Member of the WPK Political Bureau), Ro Tu Chol (DPRK Vice Premier, State Planning Commission Chairman and Member of the WPK Political Bureau), Kim Su Gil (Chairman of the Pyongyang City WPK Committee and alternate [candidate] member of the WPK Political Bureau), WPK department directors and deputy directors, DPRK government officials and representatives of the Pyongyang City WPK Committee and Pyongyang City People’s Committee.

Kim Su Gil delivered a report in which he said the recently-held joint conference in implementing the five-year economic plan and implementing the tasks introduced at the 7th Party Congress “for making a breakthrough towards carrying out the five-year strategy for the state development and the WPK and called upon all service personnel and people to make a grand advance.”  Kim “called on all officials, party members and other working people to turn out as one in hearty response to the call of the party and wage a dynamic struggle for carrying out the decision set forth at the Seventh Congress of the WPK.”  The report stressed “the need to make a hot win of studying the report by supreme leader Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) at the Seventh Congress of the WPK and conduct the five-point education more dynamically and effectively with main emphasis on the education in the greatness of the illustrious leaders.”

Kim called “for making all the people well-verses in science and technology at an early date with science and technology as a lifeline to put the country on the status of a scientific and technical power.”  The report “underlined the need to strengthen the independent and Chuch’e character of the national economy in every way by our own efforts and with indigenous technology and resources and wage a vigorous struggle to carry out the five-year strategy for the state economic development.”  Kim Su Gil’s report was followed by speeches from representatives of DPRK workers, agricultural employees, samuwo’n and youths and students.
