Its coming up to three months since we moved into our new place, and the time has just flown by! We moved in right at the end of term last (academic) year, and then as soon as we broke up jetted off to Malaysia for a couple of weeks. As a result, we didn't get to sort things out as much as we would have liked, or make it our own. One of the first things we did do, however, was painting the chimney breast from a hideous sparkly deep purple, to a fresh(er) olive green. Life seemed much better once that was out of the way! Since coming back from holiday, and in the last few weeks before I came back to work, I made it my mission to make the place look... homely. Now, we don't have a 'style'. We both love ethnic-inspired design, I also love chintz-y, Cath Kidston type bits and pieces, and Rich just doesn't want to feel like he's living in a tart's parlour. Fair enough. So our home is an amalgamation of our tastes; no room has a theme, and instead is full of bits and pieces acquired from all over. Elephants from Malaysia, a rattan chair with Algerian cushions from the charity shop, detailed china bowls from TK Maxx (hah!), and our favourite new piece, this stunning mirror* from Out There Interiors. It has pride of place in our hall way, and receieves an inordinate amount of admiration from guests! We love the weathered look of the individual leaves around the outside, and the slight doming of the mirror itself. Lusho!
