Both Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke from the G20 summit and once again when asked about Syria, Putin took a hardline, saying it was the rebels that used a chemical attack in Syria as "provocation," in the hopes of manipulating the facts so that other countries would intervene.
Putin also pointed out that a regional war caused by any attack against Syria would cause oil prices to spike and the world's economy to sputter.
Perhaps his strongest statement, knowing the world is watching, is when he made it clear that an attack against a sovereign nation is only acceptable for defense and Syria has not attacked the U.S.
Obama's speech was shorter and he continued to beat the same war drum he has been beating, the world has a duty to act, etc..
Also in the video below, France claims to have proof the Assad regime carried out the chemical attacks, but unlike Obama and Co., they respect the illegality of attacking Syria without the UN Security Council authority.
