Although you think your home may be safe for your pup, there are in fact a number of potential hazards you need to be aware of for your pet’s well-being.

Cleaning fluids and detergents
Make sure your pup doesn’t have access to them.
Powder carpet fresheners
Dogs may suffer paw, skin and respiratory problems if these products are used.
Electric cords
Store unused cords and cables inside a drawer or closet at home.
These can prove fatal if chewed, but young, curious dogs often view them as irresistible play items. Keep wires to a minimum in those areas of the house where dogs are allowed.
Sewing materials
Keep needles, threads, buttons, and elastic bands under lock and key.
Human medicines
Keep these locked away, so your dog don’t have access to them, too.
Hot water
Keep your dog out of the bathroom while you’re running a bath in case he jumps or falls into the hot water; for both human and animal safety, in any case, run the cold water first and add the hot to suit afterwards.
Noise
A dog’s hearing is extremely sensitive and can easily be damaged, so don’t subject him to loud sound from the television or radio. In any case, loud sound of any kind is distressing to any animal.
