Puma is speeding up its web3 strategy in the year of its 75th birthday. The popular sportswear company recently said that the Super PUMA PFP NFTs would be released at the same time as the Nitro Collection, which is an ongoing web3 project.
Because of the PFP feature, you can use them as profile pictures on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The PFPs are web3-enabled versions of the company’s famous cartoon mascot, Super PUMA, who first appeared in a 1970s PUMA comic book.
In late February, 10,000 Super PUMA PFP NFTs will come out with 10KTF, who worked with Gucci last year. Six thousand will be sent to people who already have Nitro Collection NFTs through an airdrop, four thousand will be sold to the public, and two thousand will be saved for the 10KTF collaboration.
Adam Petrick, Chief Brand Officer, said in an email that the new PFP project was based on ideas from the brand’s existing web3 community. This shows how important it is to build communities.
He said that the Super PUMA PFP lets us connect with this group and grow our audience by using story-driven techniques that are common in the sector. The plot is about Super PUMA’s travels through time, where he plays a part in some of PUMA’s biggest sports moments.
He thinks that the new web3 platform is a natural step forward for promoting his business and telling stories about it.
Petrick says that Web3 is a great platform for PUMA because the online community, the world of sports, and the world of fashion are all connected.
A place where consumers and marketers can take risks, try out digital ideas they never thought were possible, and rely on technology to bring digital and physical together as he put it.
During September’s New York Fashion Week, PUMA showed off Black Station, an interactive metaverse space with NFTs that could be exchanged for real sneakers, and hosted an immersive fashion show with live performances.
He said, “Web3 is a great place for us to try out some of our most innovative designs and products, like Black Station.” This will be a big part of the brand’s strategy going forward.
It’s exciting for us to be a part of the growth of a culture that makes collectibles, whether those collectibles are physical shoes or digital NFTs.
In addition to the PUMA PFPs coming out at the end of the month, the Super PUMA character will soon be on IRL merchandise as well.
