The Attorney General has sent permission to officials working for the Justice Department, giving them permission to enforce federal marijuana laws in states that have legalized either recreation or medical use of the plant. I don't know why he would do such a silly thing -- unless it's to force his own personal agenda on the public (or that of the idiot in the White House).
It's certainly not going to help him (or Trump) win over anyone (or help the Republicans in the next election). The American public is against federal law being enforced over state marijuana laws. Eight states have now legalized recreational use, and many more have legalized medical use. And by a 47 point margin, the public wants those state laws to be respected.
In fact, the public goes even further. By a 22 point margin, they think marijuana should be legalized, and by a whopping 85 point margin, they think marijuana should be legalized for medical use. Sessions and Trump are out-of-step with the American people.
These charts use information in a new Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between January 5th and 9th of a random national sample of 1,106 voters, with a 3.6 point margin of error.
