Public Doesn't Like Trump's Claim Being
In his latest effort to claim his legal and impeachment troubles make him a victim, Donald Trump compared his problems to being lynched. Most people were shocked, including most politicians of both parties.
It is ludicrous that a white billionaire holding the most powerful position in the United States would compare his troubles to the thousands of people (mostly Black and innocent) who were actually tortured and killed in extralegal atrocities.
From nbcnews.com:
According to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, more than 4,700 lynchings took place in the U.S. from 1882 to 1968. Of those who were lynched, more than 3,400 were black, though not all lynchings that took place were recorded, the NAACP noted. Many of the whites who were lynched, the organization adds, were killed for helping black Americans or being against lynching.
The chart above shows what the public thinks about Trump ridiculous claim. It is from the YouGov Poll -- done on October 22nd of a national sample of 1,423 adults. Only 26% thought Trump's comparison was appropriate, while 57% said it was inappropriate.
Instead of solidifying his claim of victimhood, Trump's comparison just made him look stupid and mean-spirited.
