The Senate Republicans are still trying to hammer out their version of the AHCA (the odious bill passed by the Republican-dominated House), but Majority Leader McConnell is trying to fast-track any bill they finally come up with. He has invoked rule 14 -- which would allow the GOP to skip the committee process and go straight to the Senate floor for a vote (which he hopes will happen by July 4th).
In other words, the Senate is going to try to do what the House did -- pass a bill that has not been debated and which most members will not even have read (and which the American public won't know anything about until after it is passed). That tells me that the bill they are now trying to write will be just as bad as the one that the House passed, and they don't want any public exposure for the bill.
That would be a mistake. As the charts above show, the House version of ACHA (Trumpcare) is extremely unpopular with the public -- with 62% disapproving of it and only 17% approving. If the Senate version is anywhere near as bad as the House bill (and it's starting to look like it will be that bad), then they are making a serious mistake -- one that will come back to bite them in 2018.
The charts above are from a new Quinnipiac University Poll -- done between May 31st and June 6th of a random national sample of 1,361 voters, with a 3.2 point margin of error.
