Public Body have played shows with Squid and already earned praise from The Line of Best Fit, 6 Music and Clash. Now they’ve released new single ‘Naughty On My Bike’ – a song that is both a love letter to cycling and a scathing criticism of the UK’s over-priced and unreliable public transport system.
The song opens with a flourish of Black Wire-style guitar hooks before heading into more of a post-punk sound. The stilted vocals repeat how ‘Public transport costs way more. I don’t care for walking anymore’ before the band celebrate the lack of petrol and tax costs when it comes to using this form of transport. There’s a touch of Eddie Argos or Mark E. Smith in the delivery of the words (‘been riding my bike through the traffic lights’) while the spiky and wiry sound will delight fans of classic bands like Gang of Four and contemporary acts including Fontaines DC and Bambara.
