PS5 Restock News for Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, Target and More

Posted on the 23 January 2021 by Thiruvenkatam Chinnagounder @tipsclear

report about PlayStation 5 Availability has been grim for months, pretty much since the day the console was released. There was some excitement last week when the PS5 made brief appearances at Walmart and GameStop, but any excitement was short-lived as inventory was expected to sell out within minutes. And so Sony's next-generation console is sold out almost everywhere, at least at list price. Currently, the only consoles you can buy are on reseller websites such as: Ebay and StockX, often multiple times with a retail value of $ 400 or $ 500. The reason? Ordinary people had to compete with bots and resellersand the result is PS5s that appear on eBay for $ 1,300, as I found out today. My advice is to resist the temptation to buy one of those heavily inflated consoles - don't reward the resellers.

Good news: Recently at CES Sony confirmed that a number of games like Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Little Devil Inside and Solar Ash are slated for their planned release dates in the first half of the year. So if you already have a PS5 in hand, good times are ahead of you. For the rest of us, however, the inventory is practically nonexistent.

Twitter continues to be a source to check for replenishment news, although we see fewer major inventory losses. Instead, retailers seem to be turning to a policy of smaller, more frequent drops that sell out quickly with little online fanfare. Last weeks official tweet from GameStop was a rare exception to this new normal.

Either way, it will take a while before a PS5 is easy to find. But I'll keep an eye out for reorders anyway and update this article if it looks like you can get a PS5.

The PS5 is available in two versions: There is one $ 500 model with Blu-ray and an otherwise identical digital-only version for $ 400 with no disc slot. At this point, people are happy to get their hands on both of them, but if you don't have an optical disc library - for Blu-ray movies, used games, or old PS4 games - CNET recommends you Go with the $ 400 version.

OK, you've worn out all of your online and brick-and-mortar retailers and decided to pay a premium of over $ 300 to get this pup soon. As your friends we have to tell you: Do not do it. If you don't want to listen to us, then you should check out StockX, an eBay alternative that made a name for itself in the secondary market for sneakers and designer clothing. The last time we checked, the PS5 was priced around $ 700.
