Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna General Secretary MP Sagara kariyawasam said the Party membership of SLPP Rajangana Pradeshiya Sabha member who was taken into custody over an attempted bank robbery will be suspended. Kariyawasam made this observation during a press conference at the SLPP headquarters in Colombo yesterday (28).
The said Pradeshiya Sabha member was arrested by the police in Thambuththegama in connection to the attempted robbery of Rs. 22.3 Mn. Kariyawasam noted that the party has requested a report from the police regarding the case.
MP Kariyawasam also said that steps will be taken to remove him as a Pradeshiya Sabha member if he is proven to have connections to the crime.
