Providing Value with Your Online Startup Venture

Posted on the 18 June 2018 by Mark Pedersen @purelythemes

There are so many ways to make money online, that it would be exhaustive and futile to try and list them all. However there are certain business structures that have stood the test of time, and there are those that most certainly will not, and those are far fewer to categorize.

If you wish to make money online, earning either a small portion of a private individual’s monthly income, or catering to the business end of the spectrum, and their deeper pockets are two totally different ways of doing business. In the sense of online marketing and websites, there are a number of ways a small group or even a crafty solo entrepreneur can build something worthwhile.

From selling a digital product on Shopify, to providing membership access to a community there are some basic ways that work well regardless of what the latest trends are, depending in a higher degree on your startups level of dedication.

These types bring in some good income and at the same time provide your customers with some real value. Among the top performers outside of ecommerce, in 2018 there seems to be a focus on curating content, social media profiles (sponsors and ads,) offering online lessons, writing a review of the best product in a niche market can be a more simple but equally effective way of making money in 2018, as companies are always on the lookout for mentions and eventually their competitors will also contact you.

Here’s a few of the ideas that work for most people, and where the main limitation is your creativity and determination, in other words the amount of work you put into it.

  • Write an eBook
  • Sell a product
  • Selling access to information
  • Referring customers (affiliate)
  • Run a webinar
  • Become a web developer
  • Freelance content writing
  • Flip your website
  • Buy domain names
  • Create free content and monetize it
  • Price comparison
  • Build an email list
  • Sell your old stuff on eBay

No matter what you decide to go ahead with, it is important to remember that being efficient and extremely targeted is generally the best way to go forward. This is why review sites are still so popular and effective for marketers today, and why so many social profiles are struggling to earn money, even if they have 100.000 real followers.

As has always been the case, selling someone a product is easier if they already want to buy it. If you are looking for the best product, or a price comparison for that new hot tub you want, you are probably already ready to purchase it at this point, you just need to make sure that it fits your patio, or that you get the best price possible.

This simple fact means that it is much more likely for review websites to create sales, than for your social media profile with cute kittens, even if the review site does not have thousands of visitors every day. So make sure to not only provide value to your startup, but do it efficiently.
