Project 366 Week 27 – Another Week Down

Posted on the 04 July 2020 by Sim @simslifeblog

Well, that's it then... another week down! We have been in lockdown for 103 days now, that's more days in lockdown than we have had to actually freely enjoy 2020! Pubs have opened today though, I'm just waiting for all the backlash and posts on Facebook, because you know it will come. Has anyone braved going to a pub? The logistics make it all sound pointless... if you spot a friend seated on the other side of the pub, you cannot even toddle over and say hello. Then what is the point?

Aside from trying to figure that out, we've had another exciting week where we long for a chilled weekend... as part of Project 366, here is what we have been up to over week 27 of 2020!

Another Week Down!

The weather was absolutely horrendous here today, it seemd like we had a month's rain in a few hours. However, after spending Saturday tidying up (previous Project 366 post), we decided to nip out for some fresh air and a change of scene. We took the car on a good run up to one of our favourite walking spots, didn't bother parking up and instead went straight for the farm that sells ice-cream! Always a winner! I've followed Karen's lead, an ice-cream is a fabulous lockdown treat! Liv has this thing of smushing ice cream on her nose when having a picture taken, no idea... and I don't ask! 😉

My alarm sounded for us to get ready for the school run far earlier than I would have liked this morning. We are half way through now, the 5th school session done, 5 more to go and then Primary school is over for good!
I did my usual Aldi and Home Bargains shop, which again was very quiet. I noticed the same old couple in Aldi who I have seen every week. The husband always seems to be in a desperate rush to get to a checkout, I'd love to know where they are rushing off to!
Work today included publishing theWin £50 Viking Direct Vouchers giveaway - if you haven't entered yet, it's a fab giveaway to try out!

Tuesday

Another day of school for Liv and another day of work for me. I am seriously looking forward to a lie in tomorrow morning! Work still continues into the evenings, which is why I am enjoying crocheting, it's a total break from screentime. Well, away from a laptop anyway. Whilst crocheting I've taken to watching the Real Housewives of New York, total cheese, easy watching, with moments where I have to stop and look up! Has anyone else watched it?

I never assumed we would have such a choice of wool in our house, but as I crack on with the blanket, Liv has found other uses for extra rolls of wool... creating Pom-Poms and tassles. Now, I don't know what the plan is with these, however I am sure we could make soime funky bunting for her room.

Have to admit to loving the pom-poms, they are rather cute and can actually be used for throw and catch inside without worrying about breaking anything!
We did have a little excitement today as we heard a crunch outside, to look out and see our neighbours car roll back into our hedge and stop in the middle of the close. No-one was hurt in the incident, the bush totally survived! Turns out no-one was in the car and the handbrake wasn't on! Easily done, the lockdown mind fog is a real thing!

A home school and work day that involved dropping off a parcel and a quick trip for a social distanced driveway chat with a friend who lived near by. It really is lovely to see friends face to face, it gives everyone a little perk up and a glimpse of some normality. Some excitement in the evening when Liv had a Zoom call with her new teacher and a few of her new classmates, her new school have been more on the ball than her current school and I cannot wait for her to embark on her new chapter in September!

Moods were low today, our summer flight to visit my parents has been cancelled, despite assurances it was going ahead. A risky move, but I had weighed up every risk. Anyone who knows me, knows that I love to plan and everything gets a thorough assessment beforehand. Alas, it was all to no avail, so there was only one thing for it... take the afternoon off and go and grab a 'cheer me up' ice-cream from the farm!

We parked up at our favourite spot, mere metres away from the farm and watched over Manchester as the rain, mist and clouds started to filter out and the Manchester City Centre skyline could be seen in the distance. The greatest city ever!

Saturday

Today is definitely going to be a sloth day, a proper PJ day, with a roast chicken dinner tonight. A perfect, relaxing lockdown Saturday before we start our ride on the merry-go-round again!
