Project 366 Week 25 – The Week Of Freedom

Posted on the 20 June 2020 by Sim @simslifeblog

How are you all this week? What a week it has been, the week of freedom, as life for us featured some pre-lockdown normality which we totally needed. Read on to find out what we have been up to as part of Project 366!

Sunday

(No pictures) A day of tidying and home based chores. It actually felt like a pre-lockdown Sunday as we had to make sure we were prepared for the school run on Monday morning. I didn't appreciate having to set my alarm for ridiculous-o-clock again, but ensuring Liv's outfit was set out and lunchbox items were ready makes that Monday morning rush a little easier!

Monday

(No pictures) Liv was VERY excited to be returning to school today. How do I know this? She woke me at 6.30am asking if she could get ready yet! The earliest she has woken throughout lockdown and even earlier than the milkman arriving! The drop off went smoothly and I headed straight down to our local Aldi and Home Bargains to do my first proper shop in the outside world since lockdown. There was no need to queue to enter the stores, wipes and hand sanitizer were available to wipe down trolleys and baskets, checkout queuing was easy and I had completed my shops just after 9.30am. This meant I could get on with the rest of my day working, lawn mowing and even a quick walk up the line with a friend! Liv enjoyed her time back in school, seeing her friends again and finally getting some closure on Year 6 and her final few weeks in primary school.

Tuesday

My alarm woke me this morning, not Liv! Instead I had to wake her up to get ready for another day in school. They seem to be doing activities relating to transitioning to secondary school, which will be a huge shock to the system after so much time in lockdown! The new wool that I purchased from Aldi arrived today and I'm super excited to crack on with a new blanket! Crocheting really is a fabulous way to clock off in the evenings and there is great satisfaction and pride in making my own blankets!
Had a fabulous chat with Karen fromMissing Sleep, it was great not to be interrupted on a call for a change and we certainly put the world to rights! I filled her in on how easy my Aldi and Home Bargains shops had been. I think people are just nervous about venturing back outside as it's the great unkonwn, however shops have made it a super easy and painless process... though I'd recommend waiting a few more weeks before braving shops like Primark!

Wednesday

It felt odd getting back on track with home schooling today after two days off this week, but we broke the day up by going on an afternoon walk down The Lines with friends, which cheered everyone up! I had a chat with a lady tidying up around the Totty Snake painted rocks, which has now amassed over 3000 rocks, they are hoping to smash the Guinness Book Of World Records target of just over 3800 rocks, so we need to get painting and add our contributions!

Thursday

We have been crafting away more than ever before during lockdown. Liv has enjoyed sewing and making more scrunchies with the mounds of material we have and I have started crocheting a new blanket with the gorgeous wool that arrived on Tuesday. Aldi has been great recently for crafting supplies and I will certainly keep checking on their online wool bundles to make even more blankets!

Friday

Today I featured an amazing giveaway to win an educational books bundle from Wellbeck Publishers - make sure you enter for your chance to win! It was another great homeschooling day with lots of work completed to round off the week, a much deserved chill and crochet time in the evening. Whilst commenting on Project 366 posts, I noticed Susan from SusanKMann had made a lava lamp after seeing it featured in our recent post. If you are looking for a fun activity to try at home, this is a nice one to make!

Saturday has been spent on Lytham beach! After a week of torrential rain and thunderstorms, the appearance of the sun made a fabulous change and end to the week. The beach wasn't as busy as I expected, however the queue for the local fish and chips kiosk was immense. I'm glad we chose to chill on the beach as opposed to spending time queuing!
For now, we are back and having a chilled evening. With life returning to some sort of normality on a Monday and Tuesday, we have started to appreciate our weekends as chill out time again!
