So I promised a fantastic update on changes in my life earlier this week, and then failed to deliver on the specified date. There's a reason.
Early this week, I was offered a job that would have been perfect for me - significantly more money than I'm making now in an industry much closer to the one I'd like to be in at a company that seems more in line with where I want to be. They wanted me to start next week. And I was so excited - finally, a light at the end of the smelly, fish food encrusted tunnel.
And I turned it down.
Please understand - I love my office. I have fantastic co-workers (for the most part), incredible benefits and a pretty laid back atmosphere. However... it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. To be entirely honest, the longer I stay, the more miserable I am. It's a great place and an awesome company and I have the best boss EVER. But it's not my dream.
So when this new offer came along, I jumped on it. I felt this immense pressure lift and I truly thought it was the next step in my life. I was thrilled to get away from the stinky plant, long hours and paper cut ridden, never-ending filing.
After doing some research, getting some advice and crunching some numbers, it turns out that (financially speaking) taking the job would have left me worse off than I currently am. So I emailed them Thursday night and explained the situation. It was one of the most physically painful emails I have ever written.
I already regret it.
I need ice cream.
Love my outfit? Check back tomorrow night for more on color blocking, bright colors for fall and denim skirts. In the meantime, shop the look below:
