Product Review: Maybelline Water Shine Pure Lipstick

Maybelline is probably my go-to drugstore brand for lipsticks. They have a wide selection of colors and finishes at affordable price points. I got myself recently a tube from their Water Shine Pure collection.

The name of the shade is this weird letter and number combination — MF21. I prefer they name their shades with actual colors or something (like with their Color Sensational line *click for review here*).

The packaging looks nice and simple. It’s also sturdy because I dropped it once yet the lipstick bullet remained intact (wheww!). This particular color I got could be deceiving when you first see it from the tube! It seems dark (like cherry red) but surprisingly it was not when I swatched it.

It turned out to be this pretty sheer pink color. It’s the type of pink that can be worn during the day because it’s just light and not at all flashy. Pigmentation is okay and buildable

This is how it looks on me. I can sometimes skip applying lip balm when I use this lipstick. It’s already moisturizing and doesn’t chap my lips. I like the creamy and soft formulation, as compared to matte ones which can be drying to the lips! Downside to that is it’s not long-wearing; maximum of 3 hours and you have to reapply.

I recommend this to girls who like sheer, shiny and barely there pink lipsticks that can be worn daily at school or in the office. It’s not at all opaque so don’t expect this to entirely cover the natural shade of your lips. There are around 10 shades available for the Water Shine Pure lipstick line.

Nice post. I learn something new and challenging on blogs I stumbleupon every day. It's always interesting to read articles from other authors and practice a little something from other web sites.
