Product Review - Honda HHH 36 AXB Cordless Hedgetrimmer

By Ozhene @papaver

I was approached by the people at Honda to see if I would like to review their cordless hedgetrimmer. As I have reviewed products for them in the past I was fairly confident this was going to be a hedgetrimmer worth reviewing.

I have not paid for this hedgetrimmer, it was loaned to me for a period of time. I have not been paid to write this review and my words and opinions are my own.

A few facts first: The cutting blade is 600 mm long, double sided and made from Swiss Steel. The handle rotates so you can cut comfortably at different angles. It is a robust and well made trimmer which means it is not the lightest trimmer I have every used, weighing 5 kg, but once you have it properly balanced it cuts like a dream even through quite thick stems.

This is my Rosa Hyde Hall hedge that surrounds my veg garden. It had reached a good seven foot high and some of the stems are 3-4cm in diameter. I had let it get too tall last year and I have spent this year looking at it thinking 'I need to tackle this'. Now that the flowers are almost over it was time to set to it.

The hedge trimmer powered through the hedge with ease. The Honda battery is interchangeable with others in their cordless range. Honda sent me two batteries, I struggled to use all the power in one battery, it lasted a good 45 minutes. The batteries are weather proof and have a nice easy LCD display so you can see how much power you have left. They also recharge quite quickly too,so not too much waiting around to have them ready to go again.

and the plus side was I collected the flowers from the cut stems so that I had my last vase of rose blooms.

I still had some battery time left, so I trimmed back the front hedge to reveal the gate posts. This means cutting back the holly quite hard and again the hedge trimmer did this with no issues at all.

It is an excellent hedge trimmer. I expect high quality from Honda and they do not disappoint. Such is their confidence in this hedge trimmer that for garden/non-professional use it comes with a five year warrenty.

The Honda HHH 36 AXB hedge trimmer at the time of writing retails at around £299, if you need the battery as well then you can buy it as a bundle with the 4 Ah battery or £559 if you buy the bundle with the 6Ah battery.

Stay safe and be kind.
