Most of us want to achieve longer, thicker and darker lashes so most of the time we resort to mascara in hopes of doing the trick for us. Believe me, mascara has the power of opening up our eyes, giving it more depth and definition. I recently started using this one from Benefit called They’re Real! Mascara. You should know that I’m a big fan of Maybelline Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara and I haven’t really used a lot of other brands, so read on to see how this mascara will fare.
They’re Real! mascara came with four other products — That Gal Brightening Face Primer, Dandelion Brightening Face Powder, High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer, and Bad Gal Liner Waterproof — in the Benefit Do The Bright Thing set. Everything in the set is like a trial size and can be bought in full size. Stay tuned cos I’ll also review the other products included in the set as well.
But before anything else I want you girls (and guys haha) to watch this short but sexy and equally intriguing ad for this product!!! Real men don’t fake it, agree? ;)
Anyway, going back to the mascara… this is how Benefit describes this product:
They’re real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!
Funny how this mascara is named “They’re Real.” Other brands, on the other hand, are telling us that our lashes will look as if we’re wearing falsies when we apply a coat or two. I gotta say I like it better how Benefit is positioning this product. Anyway, here it is applied on my lashes:
As far as performance goes, I find this mascara effective! It also lasts the whole day for me. It does what it says like lengthening and volumizing my lashes. But do keep in mind not to over apply cos it might look spider-y and form clumps. And as for the wand, I do like it for separating and combing my lashes and coating them individually to attain a fuller set.
At first I thought the tip of the wand gets so much product and I find that wasteful (refer to the photo of the wand above). But then I learned that the tip is designed that way so you can hold the wand vertically and stroke upward to curl and separate lashes. This is something I wouldn’t do though if I already applied it horizontally, cos honestly doing this extra step would already make my lashes look clumpy and heavy-looking. But if that is the look you’re aiming for, then by all means do it.
Among all the products in the Benefit Do The Bright Thing set, this mascara is my most abused used item! I can’t say this truly wow-ed me but still, I’m glad I discovered this and got to try it and wasn’t disappointed in the end.
On my face: Shu Uemura POREraser UV Under Base Mousse, Avon Ideal Luminous Dual Powder Foundation in Natural Beige, Girlactik Matte Bronzer in Casablanca, K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner, Etude House Sweet Recipe Chocolate Highlighter, Benefit Dandelion Brightening Face Powder, and Dior lipstick in Flower Blossom
So what do you think? Do my lashes look real or not??? Would you try this mascara too?
PRICE - Php 1,200 (8.5 g / full size). You can get a smaller tube (3.0 g) if you buy the Do The Bright Thing Set (I have no idea how much this set costs cos it was given to me by my sister as a birthday gift. If you do know, please comment below so I can edit this. Thanks!)
