Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, along with Nick’s parents, jetted off to Priyanka’s native land of India to make the couples engagement official.

The couple, who are both rooted in their faith, shared photos from their traditional Roka ceremony in Mumbai, Maharshtra.
According to Weddingdoers, the Roka ceremony is the official announcement of the consent of the couple getting married. It can be considered as stamping the couple with the title “engaged”. Both families gather together for the first time and exchange sweets, gifts, dry fruits, etc. with each other and also bless the couple. Puja (worship) is also performed according to the Indian traditions in the presence of a priest who recites the holy verses and performs the rituals.

“The only way to do this… with Family and God. Thank you all for your wishes and blessings,” Priyanka wrote on Instagram as she shared photos from the ceremony, including her and Nick praying.

“Prayer, family and loved ones as the foundation to this new chapter,” Nick wrote.
