Priyanka and Amit met over five years ago in graduate school. They were friends first for several years, then their close friendship turned into stronger feelings. They dated for a while, and for two years Priyanka has lived on the West coast, Amit on the East coast, which they have both found very hard. Amit proposed on Brooklyn Bridge in May of this year.

They both knew Central Park quite well and they knew it is very beautiful so they decided that this would be the perfect spot for their wedding. “I love the Park in all the seasons. I love when it snows, I love the Spring, I love the Fall and Central Park is the only place in New York which remains cooler in Summers,” said Priyanka. I agree, especially on the Summer temperatures, it is the coolest place in Manhattan in high Summer, because the greenery keeps things cooler.

The couple had lived in New Jersey before Amit moved to Delaware and Priyanka moved to California for work. So, when they came to New York City for a week for their wedding, they stayed at the Manhattan Hotel in Times Square.

Originally Priyanka was thinking that Bethesda Fountain would be a lovely spot to get married. It is her favorite location in Central Park. But she realized that it would not be as private as they would like. It is a very busy area, because lots of people want to visit it, and it is very central. So, they chose Belvedere Castle Terrace for their wedding ceremony location. This is also a great place to get married, as long as it is not windy! It is high up so has a lovely view over Central Park. They also have the benefit of a little covering so that would give shade in the Summer and provide some shelter from a little light rain if they were unlucky with the weather.

Priyanka bought a simple Juliet dress from BHLDN in LA. She loves pink so that had to be the color of her wedding dress. She worked with a designer in California to give a complete unique look to the dress. She added the bling and transformed the dress completely. Priyanka and her bridesmaids carried roses and hydrangeas in their bouquets, Priyanka’s were ivory and blush, the bridesmaids’ were ivory with a pink ribbon.

Priyanka’s bridesmaids wore pink. They had all come from different places, a common theme in destination weddings. Mary flew in from London. She bought an off shoulder long dress from there, Sowmya flew in from California and bought a long dress from Nordstrom, Rachel and Premika wore similar short dresses from David’s Bridal. Their guests were a group of close friends, and Priyanka’s brother was there to give her away. We provided a violinist to play at their ceremony and a videographer to record the ceremony to share with wider friends and family.

After their photos in Central Park, they had their reception in Fig and Olive, Fifth Avenue. They had a beautiful cake from Ferrara Bakery delivered to the restaurant. In the evening, they went to a New York City bar.

Priyanka and Amit were very happy with their wedding day. They said that they would recommend a Central Park wedding to anyone, and Wed in Central Park provided a great service. “I love the ceremony written by you, I am so lucky to be married to my best friend in the most beautiful location surrounded by close friends, thank you for giving us the best day.” said Priyanka.
