A suspect who had escaped from the prison custody died yesterday (31)of a sudden illness after being arrested by a group of Ayagama police officers on Thursday.
The suspect is H.M.S. Premaratne (56) a resident of Hettipola Sunandapura.Information from the prison said that this suspect, who was remanded at the Wariyapola prison, had escaped in 2020 while receiving treatment at Wariyapola hospital under the care of prison officials.
Court had issued warrants against him in connection with two other crimes after his escape.He had escaped from prison and stayed in a rented room in Ayagama. According to a tip-off received by the Ayagama Police regarding this person, he had been arrested day on Thursday
(30) at around 11.30 am and had died yesterday (31) after being hospitalised due to an illness.
