Prairie Artisan Ales (officially Krebs Brewing Company) is a farmhouse style brewery from Krebs, Oklahoma.  The specialize in farmhouse ales and saisons.  Over the last several weeks, I’ve had several people I trust recommend their beers to me.  This brewery just landed in Oregon and is being distributed through Shelton Brothers (the importer) distribution network.  This is the next beer in my series of reviews on beers that are ideal for spring and summer.

The Standard is described as a “Hoppy Farmhouse Ale.”

Appearance: Copper with a slight haze.  Off white head with ok retention.

Aroma: Spicy hops, pepper, graininess, A citrus undertone with a slight, earthy note.

Taste: Citrus, grainy, bit of earthy finish.  There’s a slightly refreshing acidic zip to the beer.  Medium bodied with a nice lengthy finish.

Overall Impression:  This is a very enjoyable beer.  It should pair up nicely with a good variety of fresh spring foods.  A light green salad with citrus would be ideal.  This beer is quite impressive for my first time tasting an Oklahoma beer.  I have one of their higher end bottles that I’ll be tasting soon.  I’m looking forward to it.  This beer is a great value.  If you see it, pick it up!

5.2% ABV
