Praça De Lisboa, Porto

Praça de Lisboa, Porto

While the internal battle between my immune system and this nasty cold virus continues to rage for the eighth day in a row, a little anecdote behind this picture I shot last Saturday. (Can you tell I’ve been outside only one day in more than a week? All of my posts are from that one day!)

I was standing with Ice the Dog in front of the famous bookstore Lello & Irmão, which was crowded. But there was a big clear space in front of Praça de Lisboa, the plaza you see in this picture, and I thought it would make a nice photo from this vantage point. I made Ice sit (“good boy!”) and proceeded to take the photo with the camera I dug out of my bag. I set the camera, took a few shots, fiddled around for maybe a minute and a half, max. Then I turned around and to my surprise nearly bumped into a small crowd that had gathered behind me, everyone taking the exact same photo. There were even three tripods! Where did these people come from and why are they all taking the same picture?!?

As an aside, I do like Praça de Lisboa’s current lights display, but for some reason I am nostalgic for last year’s silver disco ball bling.
