Have you been to Vila do Conde, 20km north of Porto? The city has a picturesque river harbour, ocean beaches, an historic centre with interesting architecture, and you don’t even need a car to get there — it’s a stop on the Porto Metro system (B line to Póvoa de Varzim).
We were there two Sundays ago, oh so briefly, to rendez-vous with a contact of Paulo. While we were there I got to roam around the 38th edition of Feira Nacional de Artesanato (July 25-August 9, 2015), one of the largest national handicraft fairs in Portugal. We were in Vila do Conde not so long before that, for São João festivities and my mother-in-law’s birthday, which means my Vila do Conde photo collection is slowly growing. Conspicuously absent are any ocean beach pictures, but I’ll work on that. Meanwhile, here’s a selection of my most recent pictures from August 9.
